I thought about it. But these guys are set up for it and are only charging me $10.00 plus shipping, are California Gun friendly, and a mom and pop shop. I try and support that kind of business when I can. Hell I would have paid 3x's that to support this kind of shop. Once It's parkerized I'm going to have Safe/Fire and a QR code lazered into the park.

The only problem with phase 2 of this project is that I have to take the whole gun from Sacramento to Fresno to have it done while I wait.

^The gun pictured has a Ultimak long rail on the front (heavy and expensive). Also, not really free-float.

The best option right now is the newest TWS front rail (super expensive) or the Midwest Industries model --- I like the smooth version

    This is the long version.

Have you seen the Samson line of AK rails yet? AKs are really new to me, I never thought I would end up with one, I was an all AR/1911 guy for a long time. I bought a glock.... AK to follow.

Yeah, I actually had one - unless they've changed, they're up there with the expensive ones. There aren't many games in town for AK rails which are worth it.

TWS and Midwest Industries are about it.

Skip Ultimak (unless you're just buying the gastube which is great - albeit expensive)
Skip Kreb's (old school, expensive and heavy as fook, although nice)
Skip ...well just about anyone else besides the two I listed. They really are "the" ones to have.

Price is no longer a big deal. I'll be like $800.00 into this thing soon, and I already had a bunch of stuff for it hanging around the house. Besides $250.00 for a hand-guard isn't all that bad really. I have 3 on AR 15's 1 on my AR in .308 and a spare for the .308. I have a hogue stock set but I think The only rail I MAY use would be the one down the left side for a Surefire light (I have a bunch already)

Anyone have recommendations for a 45 colt single action? I'd love a replica 1873 but I'd also like to be able to use full power reloads for backwoods carry. Anything that comes close to fitting that bill? Maybe an old model vaquero?

  8. #4348
Motorwerks, I'd really avoid any AR adapters. Just get a matching US Palm grip --- no adapters (more parts to fail), simple, storage. It's made by Tango Down (and is essentially the same as their large AR grip).

Adapters are just putting more parts into something that does great with less parts.

It's $6.00 push shipping. I dont want to pay shipping though so.... I'll probably ether use the Hogue, or the Tapco that I already have.

AK builder hooked me up!! They were out of Chromed barrels on the website so I called and asked if they had any in stock he looked around for a second and said that they did and they allowed me to add the parts kit to my original order to save shipping. They were out of Matching kits which is what I wanted but I wasn't worried as much about that as I was the Chrome lined barrel. Anyhow it got here today and was a Matching numbers kit!!!! Over all I think they saved me about $30.00, so all of my parts are here.

Matching numbers Romanian kit with new Chrome US barrel
AK builder AK47 7.62 Flat With Trunnion Holes (2 parts 922R)
    AK builder Rivets
    AK builder center support
    G2 single hook trigger (3 parts 922R)
    Red Star arms retainer
    Solar tactical mag lock
Hogue OD AK stock set with grip (1 922R)
    Vltor Stock adapter
Magpul od stock (that was sitting in a drawer looking to be used anyhow) (922R)
    1 tapco 10 round magazine
    I may be missing something

without the magazine I'm at 8 parts for 922R and I haven't decided on a muzzle device yet.

    Super excited now.

Now is that really a .223 gun or a 5.56 gun? I'd hate to end up with a .223 AR.

yesterday i put some of those new Trijicon HD sights with the orange front blade on my G21sf, these are my new favorite iron sights!

  13. #4353
Hell yes, the HD's are probably my favorite duty style sights available on the market. Lots of genuine thought when into them. Excellent choice! I wish they made them for Walthers

me too! my PPQ still wears the stock sights, however i just got a new goodie for it in the mail from Bravo Concealment

  15. #4355
Looks good, yeah I don't think the PPQ will ever warrant HD's unfortunately. The gun is great but simply won't ever sell enough to garner serious attention - though they have standard Trijicons for the PPQ (only because it's the same as the P99). Here's hopin'.

I've been running my Kaluban Cloak holsters and so far so good - ordering a Bladetech WRS sometime soon.

    Cobra firearms .22lr derringer

Wife's first gun. I tried to get her to go revolver or semi; but she was set on a derringer. O well. Happy wife, happy life. ;-)

It's very inexpensive, $160.12 OTD. I hope the quality isn't too reflective of the price. We shall see. Hope to hit the local outdoor range tomorrow morning.

Oh, I know it's easy to do - I'm simply referring to the whole design as being excellent.

The rear sight is serrated to reduce any glare, has a "U" shaped cut (which aids in focusing on the front sight, over a normal box cut), and is purpose built shape to aid in charging the handgun on belts or hard surfaces. It's just a damn well thought out set of sights. Painting the front sight is always easy. I meant the whole package. (to be fair, with enough time and work, yes I could cut up a sight into the right shape...hmm...I have a spare set of plastic sights...)

Is that an indoor range? That has got to be loud even with ear protection on.

yes its indoor. useless for a BMG, yes. worth it?, hell yes lol. from 10-midnight it was free range time. shoot whatever you could bring. we brought a scar heavy .308 for that time frame. the other goodies came out before 10 (glock 19, scar light, fs2000). from 10-12 it was madatory double ear protection. with foam plugs then my headset I had zero issues. didnt really notice a difference between shooting the Barrett with double protection and shooting the scar light 5.56 with single protection. now without the foam plugs in first, i dont think i would be saying the same

If anyone is ever in the Pittsburgh PA area and wants to shoot my Barrett M82 they are more than welcome. I know some people may have limited access to them.

    Just let me know.

i would highly recommend someone taking up this offer. for the 5 minutes i spent with the gun i can say that was probably the most fun i have had at the range.

    Blasphemy?

my texas weapon system "dog leg" PSL top cover mount came in a few weeks back, I finally got time to play with it a bit.

I installed my "primary arms" scope on it. the scope rings that came with it can't take the recoil. no problem with 5.56... won't hold on for crap with x54R.

so I popped my eo-tech and magnifier on.

I actually really like this set up on this rifle. now I wish it held more then 10 rounds

  26. #4366
That gun screams Call of Duty with that set-up.

Did the side mount not work out for you? Did you ever find one of the original LPS scopes?

trust me when I say get the VEPR in 7.62x54R.I've found out the hard way that the quality of PSL's are hit or miss. litterally. may not look as cool but the VEPR is a much higher quality rifle.

no, I wasn't able to find a orgianal scope. every thing is either a AK side mount or PSL side mount, my particular PSL has a "FPK" side mount. Kalinka's web sight says "you have to mill down either the scope or the rail" I'm done screwing with it I just want to shoot it and the top mount was the easy solution.

Barretts are as much fun as one can have without the full auto switch I would say. We splintered edges of trees of our forest backstop when I was shooting one. We had one with a scope and over 200 yards at least. Pumpkins gallons and other soft targets really explode when hit. That is part of the fun. Paper just gets a bigger hole in it. Amazing the difference indoor makes. I was 5' from others firing and on the trigger with just foam protection outdoor and had no problems at all.

FML.... my AK build part is Saturday/Sunday... my truck just broke I may not be able to make it. So now I have a box of parts and no ride, if I'm lucky they may do another one next month.

I may end up just renting a car so I dont have to wait another month.
